When you dye your hair, you usually color your whole head with one color. When you get highlights, you only color parts of it with a tone that's generally darker or lighter than the existing hair color, so that there are streaks in your hair.Whats the difference between coloring your hair and highlighting it?
Coloring is when you pick a color you like and use that all over your hair. Highlighting your hair is when they take sections of your hair and add a light color so it will stand out against your base color.
coloring means the whole head while highlights are few parts colored

try looking up images on google to visualize it.
