I know that ';ash'; colored dyes can give a grayish-green tint. So use a dye that is a deep chocolate brown. Leave the color on the blond areas longer.I have blond highlight and i want to dye my hair brown. How do i cancel the blond with out turning green?
With blonde hair you would actually need to use a filler before applying the color that you desire. I would suggest using a copper/red or something of that nature first before applying the hair color. This will fill in the damaged parts of the blonde with out turning it green or greyish. If you dont want to take that many steps in dying your hair the color that you want, pick a color that has warm tones to it such as a red brown. Make sure when picking the color that you want you check the base color. If it says green or blue you dont want that one. You need something with a copper or red base.
If you are only going up to 2 levels darker then you are safe with choosing a semi- permanent color in a warm tone. Other than that you really need a salon. The hair may need to be filled and other pigment added in to balance out the tone completely from root to tip. Best of luck.
