Can you dye highlighted hair without it going green?

My hair is dark and i had it highlighted lighter but i hate it, I want to use a Garnier product on it to make it darker again but my mum says it will go green...is this right??Can you dye highlighted hair without it going green?
Yes, you can dye highlighted hair without it going green, but you will need to do abit of preparation first. Because coloring your hair involves chemicals to change the color of the hair you need to consider a few things. First, you should consider that the color you see on the box or the color chart, is one that was applied on ';white'; or ';pale blond'; hair so it is pretty much what the color is without any persuasion from an original hair color when it was applied. You on the otherhand, have an original hair color and this will always affect how the ';hair color product - no matter what the brand'; will turn-out after you dye or bleach your hair.

If you are no longer happy with the results of your highlighting, you will need to go to your local beauty supply house or perhaps talk to a colorist at your local salon. Either purchase or ask to have a ';filler'; applied to your hair. A filler product will actually balance the hair so that when you apply hair color products you won't have a bad experience such as tone differences or strange hair color results.

You might learn abit more about what happens with commercial products by going to one of the prepared box products that you see on the store shelves (i.e., www.clairol.com) as they have expert hair colorist just waiting for you to ask your question. They can direct you to specific products that will allow you to enhance your hair color....and to make it turn out just like what you intended instead of a problem that now needs to be fixed.

The secret is in knowing the products that you are using and how they will react. This will allow you success everytime :)Can you dye highlighted hair without it going green?
Get some Lady Clairol that ';washes out the gray';. It's

gentle. When I over-highlight, I buy several different shades

of blonde and streak them in. Looks great. Touch up when needed.

Just make sure you get the plastic bottles with the screw tops.

You can use it 10 drops at a time! It'll last you forever.
