How much does highlighting damage hair?

I have been getting highlighted for a couple years, and haven't noticed any damage yet. I have dirty blonde hair, and in the summer I put lighter blonde in. When the winter comes I do a combo of highlights and lowlights. I use really high quality shampoo and conditioner (either Bumble %26amp; Bumble or Fekkai). Could this be what is keeping it from being damaged? Or is the damage inevitable? How much does highlighting damage hair?
If you have your highlights done properly, by an experienced hair dresser, and you are using products specially made for coloured hair then there shouldn't be any noticable damage.

However, anything that you put on your hair that contains chemicals has the potential to cause a change in the hair structure. The worst are perms, bleaches and any colour that is mixed with peroxide, as these all have a drying effect and then when you consider other hazards such as daily blowdrying, straightening, curling etc this is when you can get problems!

It sounds to me like you've got your hair care just about right, so I wouldn't worry about it!How much does highlighting damage hair?
There really is no damage at all. It's not like dying your hair but you just color certain sections which causes less of a reaction to your hair. It also may be because you have strong hair that can also be why.
